Free studio. Paid superpowers.
Videorc is an open-source recording studio for the Mac. The app costs nothing. Premium pays for the parts that run on servers — and funds the free studio for everyone else.
Why there's a Premium at all
We could have taken funding and made the recorder the product. Instead the recorder is free, and the subscription covers exactly the things that cost us money to run.
The studio is free, forever
Recording up to 4K, scenes, camera, mic, and a local library — no watermarks, no trials, no feature drip. It's open source, so free is a license, not a pricing tier we can quietly walk back.
The servers are not
Multistreaming relays your stream to five platforms at once. Cloud AI transcribes your recording and writes the publish pack. Both run on real infrastructure with real monthly bills.
Premium ships the roadmap
Every subscription funds the next release of the free studio — the capture engine, native preview, and editor improvements land for everyone, not behind the paywall.
What your subscription buys
One plan. Everything in the free studio, plus the features with a server bill attached.
- Multistream on multiple platforms — YouTube, Twitch, X, custom RTMP
- Live captions on your stream and recording, with a synced .srt. (early alpha)
- AI publish pipeline: transcript, title & description, summary, chapters, highlights
- One-click publish pack + YouTube description composer
- Lab (experimental): smart-zoom, noise cleanup, silence removal
$32.50/month
billed yearly at $32.50/month (2 months free) — or $39 monthly
Why we're open source
A recorder sees your screen, your camera, and your mic. That's too much access to ask anyone to take on faith.
Your recordings stay yours
Videorc is local-first: recordings live on your Mac, not on our servers. An account is only needed for the features that genuinely require one.
Nothing to hide
The app that captures your screen, camera, and mic is public code. Read it, audit it, build it yourself — trust shouldn't require faith.
Built in the open
Bugs, feature requests, and pull requests all happen on GitHub. If you'd rather back the project without subscribing, sponsorships keep the lights on too.
Back the studio you record in.
Download the open-source recorder free, forever. Go Premium when you need five destinations at once, live captions, and AI publishing — and keep the free studio shipping for everyone.
