Release notes
Videorc 0.9.149 Beta 1
Five animated backgrounds now move behind your screen and camera, free for everyone, and Videorc is lighter on memory, disk and CPU.
Live backgrounds
- Five live backgrounds move behind your screen and camera, with three looks each.
- Live backgrounds are free, and nothing runs while you aren't using one.
- The Library opens quickly however long your history is.
- Videorc frees its stale app cache once, which can give back a couple of gigabytes.
- Busy chat in the Stream Manager stays smooth.
Live backgrounds
- Silk, Side Rays, Plasma Wave, Liquid Chrome and Line Waves now sit next to your pictures in Assets → Backgrounds, in the new Live group. Click one to put it behind your screen and camera; click it again to take it off.
- Adjust style on a live background picks one of three looks, the motion (Calm, the default, or Normal), how much of it shows around your screen, and how dark it is.
- They move in your preview, your recordings and your streams. Saved scenes remember the background, its look and its motion.
- They're free, and they cost nothing while you aren't using one.
- If your Mac gets too busy, Videorc draws the background at half size, then holds a still frame of it and tells you, so your recording keeps its frame rate.
- Live backgrounds move up to 4K at 30 fps. A 4K 60 fps session shows a still frame of yours and says so when it starts.
The five backgrounds come from React Bits by David Haz, used with his permission.
Faster and lighter
- The Library loads only the recordings on the page you're looking at, so it opens quickly however long your history is.
- Videorc no longer keeps old error pages in its app cache, and it frees the stale cache once. On some Macs that gives back a couple of gigabytes.
- Saving to Videorc's database is quicker, with the same safety.
- Busy chat in the Stream Manager draws once per frame instead of once per message.
- Captions, Buddy's bubbles and other sessions' health no longer redraw every Studio view.
- Videorc checks its own memory and CPU use without starting a new process every second.
