Videorc 0.9.98 Beta 1
Scan a QR code and a phone on the same Wi-Fi shows your live chat, puts a message on stream with a tap, and switches scenes, with nothing to install.
Your phone is now a chat monitor and a control deck
- New Phone remote. Scan a QR code in Settings and your phone opens a live chat monitor and control deck in its browser. There is no app to install.
- Tap a message on your phone to show it on stream, and tap again to take it off.
- Switch scenes, show takeovers, mute your microphone, and start or stop from your phone. Stop is press and hold, so a stray tap never ends your stream.
- Each phone is paired on its own. Remove one in Settings and your other devices stay connected.
- Updates and downloads now come from two independent servers, so a network that blocks one of them no longer stops you from updating.
Phone remote
Keep your chat in your hand while you stream. A phone on the same Wi-Fi as your computer becomes a live chat monitor and a control deck.
- Scan and go. Turn on Phone remote in Settings, scan the QR code, and the remote opens in your phone's browser. There is nothing to install and no account to sign in to on the phone.
- Read every message. Chat from all your connected platforms appears on the phone while you are live.
- Put a message on stream with a tap. Tap a message to show it on your video, the same highlight you get from the Chat window, in the corner you picked there. Tap it again to take it off.
- A deck in your pocket. Switch scenes, show a takeover, mute your microphone, and start or stop. Stop is press and hold, so a stray tap never ends your stream.
Private by design
- The remote works over your own Wi-Fi, not the internet, and it is off until you turn it on.
- The QR code works once and expires after five minutes. Every phone gets its own key, and everything the phone sends is signed, so another device on your Wi-Fi cannot take control or replay your taps.
- Your phones are listed in Settings. Rename one, or remove it and it stops working immediately. Your Stream Deck and other phones stay paired.
- Phones receive message text and names only, and only while one is connected.
Updates that get through
Some networks block one of the big storage providers for hours at a time. In Spain this happens on football match evenings, and it used to stop Videorc from downloading or updating until the block ended.
- Videorc releases now live on two independent servers. If the first one cannot be reached, the app quietly tries the second.
- The download page has a "Try the mirror" link under the download button for the same situation.
- Nothing changes in how you update. It just works on more networks.
Good to know
- Your phone and computer need to be on the same Wi-Fi. The first time you turn Phone remote on, macOS may ask whether Videorc can accept incoming connections. Choose Allow.
- Turning Phone remote on also turns on Remote control.
- You cannot send chat messages from the phone yet.
- We also tightened what paired control devices such as a Stream Deck can see of the app. Nothing changes in how you use them.
